My Father's Nazi Helmet Short | In Production

When Dirk Bocken’s father, Piet, unexpectedly passes away he leaves behind a trove of carefully organised correspondence, documents, and notebooks which Dirk hopes can cast light on his father’s mysterious youth.

But amongst his father’s possessions, Dirk is shocked to find a Nazi helmet alongside unpleasant memorabilia from his father’s adolescence in Brussels during World War II. As he begins to investigate these sinister objects, Dirk comes to question Piet’s role in the war. Could his father have been a Nazi collaborator?

Finding the name of a German soldier scribbled inside the helmet, Dirk sets out to identify its original owner in the hope of finding answers. In doing so, he begins to unearth family secrets that reveal a complicated period of Belgian history that remains relevant today.
